I wanted to provide a recommendation for anyone needing tree or shrub care. We had True Timber come out for an estimate to take down some leyland cypress that have become unhealthy and are enveloping utility lines. While here, they noted that we have several ash trees on our property that are not looking healthy. I highly recommend True Timber for tree work involving take downs, pruning, etc, but they indicated they don’t treat diseased trees. True Timber recommended Jim May, I.V. Tree & Shrub Care. Jim is a certified arborist and horticulturist, it was easy to make an appointment with him, he came by and looked at our ash trees that have been attacked by ash borers, he said he believed they are too far gone to save and didn’t want us wasting money on treatment he didn’t feel would be effective. He then walked our entire property for us, looking at all the trees, large and small, assessing their health, identifying some we didn’t recognize. Jim could not be nicer, or more confidence inspiring, both in terms of expert knowledge and honest dealing. He left without us paying a dime, apologized that he couldn’t save our ash trees, and said to call him if we ever needed anything. If you have trees or shrubs that have potential health issues, I highly recommend you call Jim. (If they’re too far gone and/or need removal or pruning, I’m a big fan of True Timber.) Jim did a wonderful job saving our arborvitae trees! Almost cut them down because of how bad insects had destroyed the tree. I spoke with Jim on Thursday, we was there Friday, gave me a price on site and treated it right away. Within a week the trees looked significantly better! Would have paid 3x the price to cut down and replant. Great pricing and a wealth of knowledge. I’d highly recommend Jim!
